Susan on Rocking Horse

On the terrace at 86 Sunrise Avenue. This could have been a first birthday present. Written on the back in Dorothy's handwriting "The house hasn't got all the trimmings yet. Susan 1 year." 1 Nov 1954. Jack made the rocking horse. Many years later he used this as a prototype to build one each for granddaughter Sharalyn, and grandson Gary.

86 Sunrise Avenue

This photo was taken by a professional photographer, from the street, and he then approached Jack and asked him if he wanted to buy a copy. The house is "finished". The big box contains a lawnmower which had just been delivered, and the car is the Humber which Jack bought after the Ford. Behind the house can be seen the hen house where Jack raised his chickens. Also visible are the saw-horses which still survive in 2010!

Susan at Taratara.png

18 Jan 2007 Special memories of a special day when Dad and I took a tiki tour around places of significance for him and his family from Kerikeri to Oromahoe to Kawakawa and Moerewa and back to Waimate North. Taratara was the land in Oromahoe where Jago Adkins had started to farm before he left for war (WWI), which his parents swapped for a property in Birkenhead before he returned home.
