21st October, Tuesday.

We left the ship at 9:30am, and caught the bus, a short ride from the port to Chania old town. We walked to the waterfront and out to the fortress.  The sun came out and it became quite hot.  Great views across to the city and the lighthouse.

We walked back around the old harbour, past lots of souvenir shops and cafés, then around to walk along the wall out to the lighthouse.  Then we spent an hour or two walking the city and found a pretty bar on the street where I got a freshly squeezed orange juice and David got a beer.

After all the walking we got back to the ship and had a quick zzz before going for dinner in the dining room.  Sat with 5 “strangers”, 2 from Perth, WA, 1 from Christchurch, NZ and a couple from Georgia, USA.  The kitchen staff did a dance parade through the restaurant – lots of them, all Filipina except the head chef, and I think it was because they are all leaving the cruise tomorrow.  After dinner we went to watch the Humanist dancers on the World Stage.  A good show.
